Our story unfolds in Christchurch, the bustling streets and lush landscapes of New Zealand were enchanting, yet we found ourselves yearning for the familiar scents and tastes of ouma se kombuis (grandmother’s kitchen).

In the heart of Christchurch, we decided to recreate the magic of South African cuisine. Our kitchen became a laboratory of flavors, as we experimented with recipes that reminded us of home. The sweet aroma of freshly baked koeksisters, the robust flavors of bobotie, and the comforting taste of melktert transported us back to our beloved ouma's kitchens. We realized we weren’t alone in our longing; many South Africans in New Zealand shared this same homesickness.
